Arizona Angel

Its been one year since Evil struck in Arizona.  (8 Jan 2011)
Arizona Angel

How long does it take to meet your fate
Early for some while for others late
Nine years ago when the towers fell
Caused by airborne devils from hell
Innocent lives were stolen away
For whom we will always pray
While such evil deeds that day took place
A family was blessed with a child of grace
Loved and cherished by all she knew
At nine years her life is through
Never to skip giggle have fun
Taken by a mad man’s gun
Came to us September eleven
Now this day an angel in heaven

R.I.P. Brian Broderick

Captain

Clear days with no ocean haze
I sit and at the horizon gaze
Far beyond the growing surf
Almost to our forefather’s turf
Tis then I see  as in a dream
All perfect pure and clean
Memories of long ago years
Full of joy and minus  fears

Of home where I rested my head
Said grace and broke bread
We were a group like no other
The Captain being the kid brother
Dubbed this rank by our dad
Always happy seldom sad
He was Captain to pals and kin
Charmed all with his boyish grin

Taken early to his final reward
Surely promoted by our Lord
To a rank I salute with deep pride
My love my tears I dare not hide
Once again I peer over the blue
To a time so pure and true
When we had the kid brother
A Captain like no other.

Gift
 of Gifts
On a winter's night
With   snow   so  deep
A family lays in anxious sleep
For the day that is about to dawn
Is the day that saw a Savior born
Beneath their tree the gifts are few
But what is there will surely do
For in that house is an abiding love
Between each within and for God above
A love not shaken by the lack of wealth
But blessed many times by the gift of health
A bond not weakened by time nor it's test
For they know that by God they've been blessed
Through the windows pour the first rays of day
Its to church they travel to sing and to pray
Tis then they are witness to God and His love
Because for all there is a gift from above
A gift of a babe  His only Son
He is there!   He is there!
He is there in a manger
He has given us each other
and keeps us from danger
To our house this year may
 He not be a stranger

ENVY

POET’S         PORTAL

ENVY
Need    Want   Desire    Craving
Are these  stages of Greed
Since day one we all have a natural need
For the basics of life which must be met
Then come things we would want to get
Normal reaction to the goodness of life
Posessions Positions to gain without strife
To be inspired by another’s success
Can be a plan for those with much less
Desire and craving are not just a dream
They can be part of life’s scheme
The path  is there for all to travel
Setbacks puzzles to unravel
The key to life’s quest
Is work. WORK and do your best
Envy is jealousy at its worst
Your hopes and dreams it will burst
Next step down is Greed
From which you can’t be Freed

BIG BUCK Little Doe

 Two outs game almost over
Get the win you get the clover
Grown men play sports and reap fame
Lads dream to be tops in the game
Only a few excel to such heights
Most must settle for dream filled nights
While the pros sock it away
Wannabees long for their day

A huge group of others
Sisters and brothers
Toss and turn in their sleep
Go to bed with little to eat
These are the poor who have no dough
What to feed the family they do not know
Some are without sandal or robe
While relief is sent all over the globe

In nature the Buck takes care of the doe
Together watch the fawns age and grow
Wild life many times can be cruel
The strong over the weak rule
Men and women are above the beast
The rich share with those with the least
Every child should be able to sleep
Going to bed after enough to eat
Able to dream dreams of a king
Or of an eagle on the wing
Spying a Big Buck with a Little Doe

Guardians of the Sea and Riders of the Waves

RAA announces an exhibit: Guardians of the Sea and Riders of the Waves.
sTudio 7 @ Fort Tilden  Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28
to bring to life Rockaway beach scenes that portray a moment in time on our peninsula, whether from the past or present. They are seeking vibrant images of Lifeguards, Surfers and all images that contribute to celebrating the beach life on the peninsula of Rockaway, Queens, NY. Three poems I have penned say a bit about my feelings and thoughts I have for our stretch of sand and ocean.

Surfs Up!
Jump on the train marked “A”
Ride it to Rockaway
When you get here you can tell
That is the Ocean you smell
Just a short walk and you’re  at the edge
Your heart pounds like the beat of a sledge
Your step quickens and your wind gets short
Scope the scene till you spy the sport
All the lads are at Bell”s beach
Just a short distance to reach
Now you’re here and you can’t wait
Man these waves are looking great
Wax your board
Check your cord
Enter the water and head on out
Till you see the wave that’ll make you shout
Surfs Up and I am too
Going to hang this wave till it’s through
Then again and again all the day
I’ll fly the wind in Rockaway

Beach Day
Blue skys up above.
Blue eyes full of love.
Skys of blue free of clouds
to the beach bring the crowds.
Days of warmth with breezes soft,
lure the gulls to soar aloft.
Freckled faces, rosy red
play in the sand till its time for bed.
Ocean waves rise and fall.
Surfers ride and have a ball.
A man or two with poles of glass,
stare at the ocean till the day does pass.
If one is lucky and lands a fish,
I'm sure he'll sigh and make a wish
For another great day!
in "ROCKAWAY" with
Blue skys up above
and freckled faces full of love.

Monster Wave

Tis the season of gales and canes
Fierce winds and tropical rains
A time when most keep a wary eye
Upon the changes in the sky
While others gather at the ocean’s edge
Watch together and vow a pledge
To be afloat and ready to fly
When the monster wave they finally spy
I caught such a wave a while ago
Thought to the bay we would go
It was big the biggest I’ve seen
For real or in a dream
I never made the bay
But I had a perfect day
So to the ocean’s edge I will return
To peer deeply as the surf does churn
It is there out upon the horizon
Another monster wave is arising

US YANKS

Another 4th of July arrives and we all are reminded of how blessed we are to be part of this great nation. 235 years of freedom and still greeting eager aliens to our shores.
US YANKS

Bands playing flags flying heads held high
We all are proud as the parade passes bye
A young father holds his child’s hand
Salutes the flag and cheers the band
The smiles on all the folk’s faces
Attest to our nation’s many graces
There standing tall is a man of years
Gleaming with eyes full of tears
He knows the price some have paid
For those here to enjoy this parade
Also aware there will always be
Brave Yanks that will keep us free
To our Lord and God give thanks
He  has been  Is  and will be with
US YANKS
